Obituary for Marianne Paryani

Marianne Paryani

Marianne Paryani returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 5, 2016 at the age of 65. She was the beloved daughter of the late Carmelo Sarta and Grace Savold Sarta.

Marianne was born on February 9, 1951 in Ridgewood, NY. Above all she will be remembered for her abounding love and generosity towards everyone she came into contact with. She had a deep compassion for those in need; especially the downtrodden, and she spent her entire life caring for those around her. Starting in childhood she helped look after her six siblings. It was on a trip to India that she was among a crowd and saw Mother Teresa, which was a turning point in her life. She went on to emulate St. Teresa as she cared for the sick and dying.

During her working career she cared for seniors in a retirement community while attending college and eventually earned her degree and became a Registered Nurse. Over her 20+ years as a Nurse, she took care of thousands of people including the neediest and most vulnerable in society. She lovingly cared for her mother Grace during her final years.

Her passion and celebration of her fellow man was evident in everything she did. She loved the various cultures and religions of the entire world, and worked to educate those around her about their profound importance in all of our lives. She realized that by embracing the wisdom of all the world’s people, we all could become better for it. Her love of Indian culture especially was born from her marriage to Kishan. She loved the music, films, and food of India and learned to cook authentic Indian cuisine during her numerous trips there. She was also a lover of classical music, the fine arts, and literature. Her passing is a profound loss to her loved ones, but her memory is a profound inspiration to us all.

Marianne is survived by her four children: Daughter Maria Ruggiero Ferrell and her husband Ken of Fresno, CA; Daughter Laura Ruggiero Volanti and her Husband Michael of St. Petersburg, FL; Son and Daughter-In-Law Rajesh C Paryani & Robyn McKenna Paryani of Baltimore, MD; and Son and Daughter-In-Law Prem & Molly Paryani of Kalkaska, Michigan. She is also survived by siblings: Sister and Brother-In-Law Betty & Joseph Miserendino of Medford, NY; Sister Catherine Sarta of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; Sister Donna Angley of Delmar, NY; Sister Francine Velez of Pittsburgh, PA; Brother and Sister-In-Law Christopher Sarta & Julie Freundlich Sarta of Harwinton, CT; and Sister Suzanne Scotto of Lynbrook, NY. A memorial mass will be held at St. Matthias Church, 58-15 Catalpa Avenue in Ridgewood, NY on Wednesday March 9, 2016 at 10:45am followed by burial at St John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens. Family and friends are invited to attend.
